A new planet named for Azeri sufi poet

International Astronomical Union (IAU) has passed a decision to name one of the minor planets after great Azerbaijani sufi poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi on the occasion of his 650th anniversary. Nasimi planet, assigned permanent number 32939, follows an orbit between Mars and Jupiter, within the asteroid belt. The planet was discovered by Czech astronomers at the Kleť Observatory on October 24, 1995, and its provisional name was 1995 UN2. The official naming citation was published by the Minor Planet Center on 18 May 2019 (M.P.C. 114954) Up to now, the planet has been observed 807 times at the world’s various observatories Nasimi skinned alive in Aleppo Syria in XV century due to his view over religion.
